Weekends

They are full. Especially Saturdays which are packed. During the warm months I swim laps 30 minutes and dance a couple hours at free outdoor concerts in the evenings. My priority has been temple attendance these last 7-1/2 years and the Family History Center is where I learned to navigate familysearch.org. Since August 2016 I've made hundreds if not a thousand corrections on my ancestral lines, thereby finding even more names that need temple work done. Presently we are over 1600 completed ordinances. Helping has been my own children, their spouses, the youth and brethren. I've recently realized that my mother never entered a temple. She died ten months after her baptism and there was no temple in 1962 here anyway. Sundays can be long for me and that's why I make every effort to attend a fireside, event or concert on Temple Hill which breaks up the Sabbath nicely and gives me social interaction again after church. I'm known for walking to church, three miles round-trip. My Scrabble Club and I meet often for pot luck and a game or two. I enjoy the visits of my children with their families and times I visit them. Life is good and I'm grateful.

On our trips with Mother she would alert us to the odometer and we'd watch all the same numbers roll over. I knew all fives were coming but had forgotten to take notice lately. But this morning at 6:25 there it was as I sat in my driveway ready to leave! I was so excited. My neighbor Mike graciously agreed to come out and take this picture for me. What a great way to start the day. Now I have to tell my sister what happened. It will remind her of Mother's excitement and sharing with us girls on our many road trips together.

Mother's Day 2015 in New York and Mother's Day 2017 in Utah

As I was visiting my latest grandbaby I realized I had done the same scenario in New York two years ago visiting my fourth grandbaby, both on Mother's Day. The last two babies were born one day apart. Here MM and I are playing "hockey hockey" and he cheered the loudest for my wins. On Mother's Day I gave the boys gifts including their own gloves, and shirts their father wore. I was very glad the boys did not hesitate to run into my arms. I played with them, read to them, held baby, changed diapers, played catch and bat and ball outside and with their father. I attended the singles ward on Sunday and went to a softball practice for three hours the next night. There was a houseful of family and friends for a delicious Mother's Day buffet. My sons each wanted to go out to eat so I went with one and his three friends to Buca di Beppo and the other took the family to Japanese, both delish and fun. I am blessed to have shared time with family and friends. It rained and snowed making their million-dollar view spectacular. This is the dress I wore on Michael's last birthday when we played Scrabble together. Good times.

Note the park ranger hat on J. If you put something on his head he leaves it on.
