Third World Series Championship Parade Down Market Street

After crashing a pizza, chicken, ice cream and candy party I headed to Market Street with my round step stool and found my spot in front of a tree at McAllister. Umbrellas were necessary and I had mine. Tee shirts were going for $10 and $15 and I snagged four. The smells are mostly of smoke. A couple in front of me were having a profanity-laced argument. A man snatched a phone from a young woman and she gave chase. I got comments today like the one from the accordion player, "I love your purple hair." People said to me how smart I was to bring the stool. People took pictures of me, one up close. I love the double-tiered sightseeing buses for the players this year, covered in black and orange, with their names and numbers. I saw Hunter Pence big as ever, arms outstretched. I saw Tim Lincecum and Mr. and Mrs. Buster Posey. I saw other players but they're not as recognizable to me. My stool was splattered with mud so I rinsed it at the fountain at Civic Center. Then I saw a family looking at the street map and helped them find their way to San Francisco State on the M underground. I feel like I have a permanent smile on my face, so happy for the Giants third World Series Championship. I updated my permanent signature on my e-mails. It happens every two years. A party at 3:00. It's Halloween after all.

Giants take third World Series victory in five seasons

Congratulations San Francisco Giants for another win in an even year. I was thrilled with a win in 2010. I was overjoyed and satisfied with another win in 2012. Then two wild-card teams, the Kansas City Royals and the San Francisco Giants, won their American and National League Championship games and were in the World Series. In game five the Giants won 5-0. Yay! In game six the Royals won 10-0. The teams were tied at 3-3. Oh no. I was worried. I've been wearing my Giants shirts for a week now. A coworker said they'll win it. I said, "Good." On a mild evening I would have loved a swim but it was game seven of the World Series and I also needed to make dinner. I saw the amazing plays, the quiet calm of Madison Bumgarner on the mound as he entered in the 5th inning and took it to the 9th after only two days of rest. I saw Pablo Sandoval catch the pop-up fly and fall spread eagle to the ground knowing his team had once again clinched the World Series title. I jumped up, I screamed, I clapped, I cried the rest of the night. Paul called me and we were both blown away with another Giants win. The buses in San Francisco alternate their destination with a Go Giants! message. They did it again. Go Giants! I'm so happy for you.

DMM is a fan of the Giants too.

Posey picks up Bumgarner.
MVP pitcher Bumgarner.

In conclusion, the Royals are feeling blue.

Five years

October is the month of beginnings and endings. It's the month he was born, we met, he died and was buried. Today it's been five years since he died. The time has passed, I still cry, I still miss him, our dancing together, walks, Scrabble games he almost always won. Since his passing our family has welcomed three beautiful grandsons, one born in October. Five years is a long time and it doesn't get any easier.

Loma Prieta Earthquake 25th anniversary

Twenty-five years ago today I was with my little boys after playing tennis at West Portal as we experienced the 6.9 shaker at the corner of Taraval and 17th Avenue down from where we lived. I saw the video store windows move and saw the sidewalk ripple like big waves. I remember Michael came home and since I hadn't made dinner he made us spaghetti that night.

Giants win the 2014 National League Pennant

Game 5, 6-3, 9th inning against the St. Louis Cardinals at AT&T. I took the streetcar down just to be around for the excitement and catch glimpses through the free area. Congratulations San Francisco Giants. On to the World Series.

San Francisco Veterans Memorial

I took a late lunch at 3:00 instead of noon and had a wonderful time. First Marine Division Band played, all military services were represented, and dignitaries included Mayor Lee, former mayor Senator Feinstein, former mayor Willie Brown, former Secretary of State George P. Shultz and other distinguished readers and speakers. Talks were short and sweet, the Blue Angels practiced overhead during Fleet Week and it was all over in 40 or 45 minutes. Well done and though 82 years late the present mayor got it made and dedicated. October 14: I walked through the area today having touched the beautiful wooden box the dirt was in. It's completely covered now inside the memorial. I was hoping there'd be some sort of bullet-proof glass to see the box.
