Halloween Dress-up Parade and Buffet

I've never seen so many employees here dress up for Halloween. I had my fuschia wig on with skirt, top and jewelry to match. Music, fun and food. Happy Halloween. Pictures later? Then the fun continued for the second year at the Bells with food, dancing to Thriller, screaming out Happy Halloween!, seeing cute little costumed trick or treaters, J playing piano for T to belt out a song. Her mom enjoyed her grandchildren and we partied 2-1/2 hours. DWTS and H-5O had Halloween themes to top off the evening. Fun, fun, fun.

3700 Concord Boulevard Chapel

When we first moved to Concord in 2000 we attended this chapel, dedicated November 13, 1955, and built by members still in the ward and attended by members who'd grown up going to church there. Then in January 2003 Concord 1st and 3rd wards merged and we moved to Denkinger sharing the building with two Walnut Creek Stake wards. This weekend changes us back to a beautifully remodeled Concord chapel and Family History Center. Excitement is running high and a morning open house with me helping with guided tours as a ward missionary and 4 p.m. chapel history summary by our stake president, combined ward choir, and talk and dedication by Elder Robert Packer is Saturday. Services begin October 30 at 10 a.m. That's quite a birthday president for Stake President Score. We will share the building with Oak Grove Third Ward of the Tonga Stake. I have many fond memories attending with my family. Things change. I'll be alone. I'm thrilled to be returning to this lovely building. It's 1-1/2 miles from home, within walking distance.

International Art Museum of America

I missed the grand opening but because of a nice poster at work I checked out this new museum on Market Street. Imagine being in a desert and coming upon a beautiful, lush area with cool, refreshing water and beauty. I was so surprised with this gorgeous new edifice complete with running water and a treehouse, chandeliers, a grand piano and of course lots of art on the two floors available to the public. Even the restrooms are gorgeous.

Happy Birthday to my Michael

Today is my husband's birthday. I miss him dearly every single day. He was my friend, my lover, my companion, the father of beautiful children, my Scrabble buddy, dance partner, walking companion, cook, shopper, fixer of almost anything and everything, hard worker, service-oriented, priesthood holder, Scoutmaster, ward mission leader, scripture-reading, handsome, wonderful laugh, camper, good neighbor. He must have been needed awfully badly on the other side. Happy Birthday. I'm wearing my magenta dress I wore to his last birthday party. He passed four days later. I'm sure his children and loved ones are missing him today like I am.

I'm a Fan of Ballroom Dance

Wow. I saw Brigham Young University Ballroom Dance Company perform Capture the Magic Saturday night on Temple Hill. I'm a fan. A friend was a dancer b. c. (before children). These dancers are phenomenal.

Grants for the Arts 50th Anniversary

I was part of a celebration in City Hall Rotunda at noon today celebrating with dance and song after Mayor Lee issued a proclamation for the special day. I invited tourists and someone I know along the way to City Hall. As I looked around I was perhaps the only one with a folding lawn chair. Having endured numb bum sitting on the marble floor for other entertainment I brought my own which caught the attention of people my age forced to sit on the floor. Hawaiian dance to I Left My Heart in San Francisco, Theatre Flamenco, and a Beach Blanket Babylon singer in pink gown and hair belting out San Francisco lasted only until 12:30 and all were invited to the South Hall for beverages and finger foods accompanied by a lovely string trio. In the North Hall banners were hung from 1961 for Grants for the Arts. Weather was fine and beautiful and it was a fine hour in the city.

Hotel Utah Centennial

My claim to fame is Monroe Machinery had its Christmas party there, probably 1966. I worked in the office and was new to Utah and Salt Lake City. It was thrilling to be in that beautiful hotel being treated to dinner and having fun.
